Admission of Foreign Students to Undergraduate Programs

GENERAL TERMS
Izmir University of Economics welcomes applications from students worldwide.All foreign nationals with certified high school education validated by Turkey may apply to İzmir University of Economics for admission to undergraduate (four-year) programs.
Furthermore, all foreign undergraduate students studying at universities abroad can be admitted to undergraduate programs at İzmir University of Economics as visiting students for one or two semesters.

** YÖS exam is conducted in 2009-2010 for the last time. The exam is valid for 2 years.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Senior high school students or graduates who are:
- Foreign nationals,
- Turkish citizens by birth, but released from citizenship by the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, and who can certify that their minor children who are registered in that permit are eligible for the rights stated in Law No. 5203,
- Dual citizens who were born as foreign nationals and became Turkish citizen afterwards
- Turkish nationals who completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,
- Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nationals who reside there and completed their secondary education there having a GCEAL certificate,
can apply for foreign student quota.
WHO CANNOT APPLY?
- Turkish nationals, (excluding the ones who completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus),
- Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus nationals,(excluding the ones who completed their secondary education there having a GCEAL certificate,
- Dual citizens who has a Turkish citizenship,(excluding the ones who completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus),
- Dual citizens who has a Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus citizenship (excluding the ones who completed their secondary education there having a GCEAL certificate),
- Turkish nationals who completed their high school education in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,
- Have been dismissed from a higher education program in Turkey for disciplinary,
- As of 2011, those who have ceased to be a citizen of Turkey and who have completed their high school in Turkey or in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
cannot apply for foreign student quota.

TUITION FEES
At Izmir University of Economics, students are required to pay an annual fee. The tuition fee is determined by the Board of Trustees each year. Tuition fees can be paid in two equal installments.
The first semester payment is made upon registration and the second semester payment is made before the spring semester course registrations between the dates indicated on the Academic Calendar.
The English preparatory school students pay the same fee.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION
- Original copy of the exam result (Exam results submitted in application. YÖS, SAT I, GCE, ACT, etc.)
- Original High School Diploma and a notarized Turkish translation
- Equivalence certificate of the diploma (From Turkish Ministry of Education-Board of Education and Discipline or Turkish Consulates abroad)
- Photocopy of the passport page with the photograph and personal identifying information and the student visa. (The original of the passport will be required in final registration.)
- Photocopy of the first seven pages of residence permit (Taken from City Security Head Office)
- 8 passport size (4.5 x 6 cm) photos (taken in the last 6 months, head and neck open, clearly identifying the person)
- Bank receipt showing that the semester tuition fee and other costs to cover the expenditures are paid
- Original score of language proficiency exam if submitted the copy during the application.
- General health insurance document.
- Financial assurance to have education in the University
* Students from outside Turkey take “Student Visa” from Turkish Consulates abroad.
The students who live in Turkey and has a valid residence permit should give a copy of the Residence Permit instead of “Student Visa”. It must be written “educational purpose” on the residence permit.
“Student Visa” is not required for the students who became Turkish citizen by birth and later became a citizen of a foreign country by taking a permission to cease to be a citizen of Turkey with the decision of the cabinet.
